to the mountains

My college roommate came to visit over the weekend, and we went down to Buena Vista and surrounding areas to paint and hike (he's an accomplished watercolorist).

On Saturday, we just drove around and would pull over and paint what struck our fancy. This sketch started as a "pure" watercolor, and I added the ink lines later (the opposite of what I normally do).

I'm fairly happy with this, but Mark did a much better job with his composition. I located the horizon line and vanishing point much too centrally.
